Split Charge Kits

Split charge relay kits are a simple way to charge a lead acid leisure battery in a older vehicle that has a standard alternator system.  They use a relay to connect the main vehicle battery to a second leisure battery when the vehicle is running to allow the alternator to charge both batteries. When the vehicle is not running the relay will disconnect allowing you to use the power in the leisure battery without draining the main vehicle battery

A split charge relay system is not suitable for newer vehicles with a smart alternator charging system usually fitted to veicles from apprx. 2015 onwards in Euro 5 & 6 vehicles. Smart Alternator Test Link

A split charge relay system is also not suitable for use with AGM, GEL or Lithum Lifepo4 batterys
